Kids Can Crazy Dress-Up Day

Today the school celebrated Kids Can with a Crazy Dress-Up Day theme. These students from Rm16 came to school with their crazy hair and wacky clothes and helped raise money for Kids Can. We had mismatched shoes, backward clothing, spray painted hair, curls, twirls, hair ties, business ties and shimmering eyeliner! They all looked fantastically CRAZY!

Rock Up

ROCK UP!

Rock climbing is really cool, in fact it made me conquer my fear of heights.

The first thing we had to do was read all twelve rules together. Next, Geoff gave us 20 seconds to get into groups of 3.  I was teamed up with Kyrah-Lee and Jackson.

Once Geoff had shown us what to do we had to go and work together to put our harness on. Kyrah-Lee told me that I could go first, so I put on the harness. When I was climbing I was so scared that I was going to fall, but luckily my teammates were cheering me on and supporting me by shouting out good compliments.

If we did something wrong like not doing the harness properly we would have to do 5 push ups and my team did not want to do that, so we tried to not to do anything wrong and tried hard to follow all the rules. When one person is climbing you can not go on the mats, only if you are the one who is climbing.

My team got three turns each and Savana’s group got seven turns.  I really enjoyed climbing and conquering my fears. My favorite part was when Geoff taught us how to abseil. I was not afraid because it looked easy at first, but then when I actually had to do it, it was so scary that I didn't want to let go, but I had to.

I  had soooooooooo much fun that I would love to do it again. I had the best day and I have learnt that if you are afraid of heights you can give it a try anyway and have fun!

Introducing the Young Leaders for 2018 from Rm16

Congratulations to these 3 students from Room 16 for being selected to be a Young Leader for Leabank Primary School 2018.  After submitting an application, completing interviews and going through the selection process they were carefully chosen to represent and be a role model for all other students at Leabank Primary School.

We believe they can make a positive contribution to our school and empower and motivate others.

Young Leader

This year I have deiced to apply to be a Young Leader. Each year there are only a certain amount of people who are chosen to be Young leaders. This year about thirty children have applied to be one. The qualities you need to be a Young Leader are you need to be responsible, confident, reliable, sensible and kind. If you are a Young Leader you are always being looked up to by the other children and most times you are counted on to do something. It is a big honor if you become a Young Leader because you would be treated with respect and you get to host whole school assemblies. Being a Young Leader will be fun and exciting.

K.O.S

Our topic we are learning about is K.O.S - Keeping Ourselves Safe.

In Room 16 we have been learning about making safe choices and unsafe choices and the positive or negative consequences of our actions.

To be safe you must always be confident because confident kids makes good decision.

To be confident you must walk and talk in confident ways, express your feelings in a safe way and most important is make the right decisions and be confident to seek help in any situation, like for example someone bullies your best friend and you're brave enough to stand up to the bully but your best friend is not brave enough. You also must have your chest held high, stand tall, have your head held high, shoulders are not hunched and must be brave enough to share your ideas.
