Senior School Spelling Bee

After weeks of learning and revising lists of new and interesting words, 3 students from each class participated in Leabank's first ever Spelling Bee.  Tension was high, nerves were frayed...and that was just Mrs Kung!  Imagine how the competitors were feeling.  Everyone did a superb job but in the end Marri-Anne, Ivarnika and TJ took out first place in each of their divisions.  A job well done team.  You are all super⭐'s!!!

Our Samoan Inspired Art

Samoan Koko Alaisa and Chopsoi

Our class (Rm 21) made koko alaisa and chop suey on Friday for Samoan language week. Eating the food is way better than cooking it. My favourite was the chop suey or another way of saying it is supasui for Samoan. It was my favourite dish because the chicken was a delicious twist to the rice and the carrots. They were both very yummy but I liked the chop suey the best!

Samoan Language Week

Our class has been making koko alaisa and sapasui for Samoa language week. They were so delicious. When we ate the sapasui I loved the chicken the most but I only had one piece of chicken.We ate it with bread which made it taste even better. The rice was the second best. The koko alaisa tasted like chocolate! It didn't have any water in it but it was still yum.

Leabank was lucky enough to have Michel Mulipola attend our Duffy Assembly and share with us his creative talents.  He is the illustrator of many school journals, children's books and comics.

Swimming

Swimming is part of the New Zealand curriculum.  It is really important for kiwi kids to learn skills to help keep safe in the water.  Our class has swimming on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings. Students need to remember to bring their togs, towel and swimming goggles if they wish.  Check out some of our students practicing their side pool entry using life jackets.

today the year 6's had there graduation it was a lot of fun.

we had a special speaker come and say thing his name was ofisa tonu'u he was a he was a new Zealand rugby union player for the under 20's he came to tell us about believing and character then after that Anastaisa and uilli come and do there acknowledgment speech . finally we did the haka we did tika tonu .After that we went  outside for a group photo everyone took pictures a while after that we had lunch it was delicious in the middle of us eating the bell rang but we could still eat.

Leabank's Olympic Bake Day

Olympic Bake Sale

This term we had an Olympic Bake Sale.

All the classes in the senior school baked special treats for everyone to buy.

Each class had a stand set up in the hall filled with cakes, slices, biscuits, muffins, cupcakes, lollies and drinks.  Our class made delicious, gooey rice crackle, chocolate fudge cake and Moro bars slice. Everyone's food was so yummy that we nearly sold out before the Year 5 and 6 students even got there.  Lucky we were able to buy ice-cream at break two.  Just for Year 5 and 6.

It was so much fun and everyone made a really big effort.  All the money raised goes to Camp 2017!!!
